1 July 1858 Bishop of Winchester sold the land to John Stares

1 Nov 1869 land owned by J Stares and Wm Stares. (William Stares is named in the records of The Manor of Catisfield)

20 June 1888 Wm Stairs (!!) sold the land and buildings to Montagu Henry Foster
MH Foster ran Stubbington House School. The school was founded in 1841[3] by the Reverend William Foster, who died in 1866] He was succeeded by one of his sons, Montagu Henry Foster, and by 1883 the school roll had increased to around 130 pupils. Montagu died in April 1913, leaving an estate that was valued at £163,14 0 and as in his will 11 Sep 1909 land was sold.

£4250 paid by Frederick Jerome and Wilfred Jerome. For land shown in red on map.

25 March 1937 - there is a conveyance from FL and WD Jerome to Maurice Rupert Berney , a builder, of Southsea £3800 for 37.289 acres.
(Mr Berney built many houses in Southsea - in fact Portsmouth named two roads after him - Maurice Road and Berney Road.).

Much of the stock and farm equipment was sold off by auction by the farmer (Mr F L Jerome) on March 15th 1937.
Mr Jerome the seller of the farm moved into a house in Stubbington of which it is said had a bomb dropped into its garden during the war, which blew him up the stairs, but he survived.

Catisfield Scouts. -- The group was originally formed in 1944. In its early days they met in various public halls until 1954 when their first hut was built by Mr Maurice Berney as a memorial to his son Geoffrey who was killed in action early in the Second World War aged 20. . The gift also included the freehold of the land.
(see the page on Catisfield Memorial Hall Plaque)

Maurice and his wife Lily lived in Lennox Road, Souhsea and at Catisfield Farm House. He is still listed as living at the Farm in 1957.
.Although it is said that the Farm became "a builders Yard" in the 1940s

The Heathfield Farm Estate stretched almost as far as Oak Road. So much of the property in Blackbrook Road and so on are built on Mr Berney's land.

Later Maurice and Lily moved to Craneswater Park Southsea. Maurice died 8 May 1958 (leaving £66,574) and Lily 22 Sep 1985 (leaving £553,881).
